Speak4Nature Seminar THECO, 24/04/202513/01/2026 From THECO and Speak4Nature project, we are excited to share with you the upcoming Seminar Series. Next Wednesday, May 7, 2025, we will have a new Speak4Nature Seminar Session at the Getafe Campus of the Carlos III University of Madrid. This session will feature a presentation by Dra. Marina Martínez (Universidad Nacional del Litoral, Santa Fé), who is currently doing her secondment within the framework of the Speak4Nature Project at our university. The seminar, entitled “The Place of Gender: Experiences of Women from Riverside Territories,” will seek to contribute to the debate on “space,” “place,” and “gender,” exploring how the configuration of the territory and environmental conditions, such as flooding, influence gender inequalities. Based on the notion of dwelling as the set of practices and knowledge with which we relate to the world, we will delve into a territory whose presence and being in the world are influenced by the dynamics of the river. Emphasis will be placed on the fundamental role of women in developing strategies for adapting to their surroundings. Living in a riverside neighborhood involves developing a particular style of social interaction, concerns, goals, desires, tensions, and perspectives on the environment. In this way of life, flooding emerges as a common experience that significantly influences the identity of its inhabitants. Women experience these transformations differently, leading to diverse experiences and different ways of living depending on the water level. Session Details: • Date: May 7, 2025 • Time: 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM • Location: Room 17.2.47, Getafe Campus • Link to the online session: https://meet.jit.si/THECO_S4N Past activities
