07/05 | Institutionalization, Urban Networks, and Planning THECO, 27/04/202604/05/2026 The final session of the “Agroecology in Madrid” workshop will take place on May 7, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., at the Carlos III University of Madrid (Getafe Campus, room 17.2.47). This fourth session, entitled “Institutionalization, Urban Networks, and Planning,” concludes the workshop cycle, offering a particularly interesting opportunity to reflect together on the lessons learned and future prospects of agroecology in urban contexts. SPEAKER: Marián Simón Rojo (Associate Professor in the Department of Urban Planning and Territorial Development at the Polytechnic University of Madrid and founder of the Madrid Agroecological Network) will address the session from the perspective of “Trajectories, Lessons Learned, and Future Prospects,” exploring the processes of institutionalizing agroecology, the construction of urban networks, and their implications for territorial and ecological planning. Panel Topic: The experience of the Madrid Agroecological Network as an integration of agroecological systems into Madrid’s urban and territorial planning. Panel Focus: The relationship between citizen initiatives and urban policies, especially through their participation in Madrid Agroecological Network. Reflections on how to influence the expansion of agroecological practices through urban planning. An assessment of the municipalist cycle: limitations, potential, and lessons learned. Reflections on the limitations and potential of networking to foster symbiotic relationships between rural and urban environments.
